Oil paintings from photos

no comment

We have been creating superb oil paintings from photos for over ten years now, Simon Butler our main artist takes great pride in his work and has been commissioned from all over the world building up quite a reputation along the way. Artist Simon Butler believes that a good oil portrait should capture the personality and character of the subject in a special moment in time. Specialising in oil on canvas, his realistic approach has been appreciated by many, including his contemporaries. Any questions, please email us at: website@vuyou.co.uk

A recent portrait painted last year.

The result has been stunning. A marvellous oil painting capturing the exact likeness. I was kept informed of progress and despatch and the service couldn’t have been better. We are so delighted with our painting that we will certainly be asking for some more to be painted. A rare high quality service.”

A oil painitng from a supplied photograph.

The painting is excellent, first class work. I must admit I didn’t expect something done so well, I think you should be rightly proud of this outstanding painting.

With Disney images especially, copyright laws are strictly adhered to. If you paint anything that is copyrighted and can be proven to be copied from that image, you can be sued. You cannot use any character from Disney without explicit permission from them. They litigate for no less than $250,000 for each violation. Muralists know this and will not do Disney characters for a child's room for that reason. If you were doing actual people from a scene in a movie, you would have to change the positioning, costumes, etc... so that the painting could not be identified as such. Read more

Hi, You may try to advertise on newspapers, art mags and some blogs. Of course that the price of the advertisement will depend upon the number of readers. You should also have a website (if you don't have one) and provide a phone number. Building a trustful name is very difficult, namely because of the amount of scams going on. Kind regards, Joséhttp://theartinquirer.blogspot.com Read more

If you're wanting prints larger than 4 by 6 inch or 5 by 7 inch prints AND that'll hold up to a magnifying glass, you'll need a camera with more mega pixels, say 5 on up. Also if you're doing a lot of cropping of the pictures you take, that'll degrade the print quality too. Try to fill the camera composing frame as much as possible with the painting you're trying to photograph If you can save pictures only as *.jpg files, try setting the camera to the maximum mega pixel setting and "fine" storage mode. The finished picture will take up a lot more space to store, but better print quality will result. Not all cameras will allow you to store pictures as a bit map or "RAW" file. Use that mode if it's available, though, the quality will be maximized and you can save the results as a *.jpg file later. Check into your printer settings, too. Much printer software has settings for the type of paper you're using, such as glossy or matter or heavy or regular grade paper. That setting makes a big difference. Also maximize the number of dots/inch printing quality. Many printers default to 100 dots per inch to speed up the printing speed, but the final quality definitely suffers. Read more

artscow.com has a whole variety of items that can be made from photos- umbrellas, purses, ties, books, etc. You create it online yourself from a photo, and it would be really unique. Could have a picture of the kids put onto an umbrella or something fun like that. Read more

If you have a public art museum nearby, call them and see if they can provide an initial review or appraisal of the paintings. Ask to speak with an art instructor at a local college. Go to your local library and ask for help at the reference desk. It sure would help if you could post better photos. Everyone has an opinion about art. My opinion, from just looking at the blurry photos, is that the paintings appear to be artist-quality original paintings. I would definitely seek out additional information. Read more
